“But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. “ Luke 10:33-34
Our opening scripture was Jesus’ response to a question someone asked about who his neighbor was. Jesus told the story of a man who was attacked by robbers and lay on the road. Different caliber of men in the religious and social class saw him and passed by the other way. They refused to help him. Finally, it was a Samaritan who was seen by the Jews as an outcast, who came to the man’s rescue. He helped the man till he got well, without expecting anything in return. That is what is expected of us as children of God. Jesus enjoined us to love our neighbours as ourselves. The story of the Good Samaritan shows us how to do it.
We are in the season of exchange of gifts. Today is celebrated worldwide as ‘boxing’ day. This is a day of goodwill, a day of reaching out to the less privileged and those around you who need to be shown love. It may cost you as much as buying a tangible gift or it may cost you as little as a smile, a text message, a call, and so on. Whatever it is you can do, let today count. Be a blessing. God rewards people who are committed to blessing others with what He has blessed them with. If you have not given Jesus your heart, start from there by saying the salvation prayer in the back pages of this book. Then locate someone who needs what you have and bless the person. Beyond this day, make it a daily habit to be a blessing to those around you. Gifts of love open doors of favour.
Healed of chest pain
God has done so many things for me through this commission. One of them is that since 2014, I suffered chest pain. I went to several hospitals and took medications but nothing worked. Then I started coming to church here this year. During a service, I sowed altar seed and tied it to the chest pain. Daddy prayed for me. That was the end of the affliction. I have not experienced it again. Praise God!
