“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6
In the heat of the situation, David did something; he encouraged Himself. He didn’t let the happenings around him weigh him down. He must have said to himself, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.” (Psalms 42:5). This is the first thing to do when the enemy attacks. Encourage yourself. It is important to know that no matter how raging a storm is, it will not drown a ship until water enters the ship. If the ship is strong and does not allow water to enter it, as the waters rise, the ship rises with it. This means that a canoe in a small stream can drown if water enters it while a ship in a mighty ocean can remain afloat if it is water-tight. So it is not the amount of water or storm around the ship but the amount of water that enters the ship. The situation that will drown you is the one you allow get to your spirit and weight you down. Learn to keep the waters of affliction away from your soul and spirit. Encourage yourself.
Beloved, note that the scripture says David encouraged himself IN THE LORD. This is important. Where do you base your encouragement? In human ability or in the Lord? Are you encouraged because somebody promised to help or because the Lord is on your side? Men can fail but the Lord will not fail you. Even when David’s men turned against him, he encouraged himself in the Lord and the Lord did not fail him. In times like these, make the Word of God your anchor. Study the bible like never before. Romans 15:4 says, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
Beloved, Also note that the scripture says David encouraged himself in the Lord HIS GOD. Do you know the Lord? Is the Lord your God? Do you have a personal relationship with Him or do you still see Him as a general God everybody worships? Are you a child of God? Are you born again? When you answer these questions, you will know whether the Lord is your God or not. That is the foundation. When the Lord is your God, then encouraging yourself will be possible. Ensure that the Lord is your God today, and encourage yourself.

Healed of waist pain
I thank God for healing me of waist pain. I suffered it for several months and all medications I tried did not work. During a service in church one day, as daddy Larry ministered, he dropped his mantle on me and left it there. I went home with it and continued praying with it, tying it in my wrapper. That was the end of the waist pain till date. Praise God.
