“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their land.” Psalms 149:6
Beloved, in this year of completion and perfection and month of High praises, as children of God, high praises should never depart from our mouths. Let us see some definitions of “High Praise”. The Ellicott’s commentary for English readers explains it as the ATTRIBUTES, the WONDERS, the ACTS, and the WORKS of God. Strong’s dictionary refers to it as exaltations of celebration. Jamieson-Fausset-Brown’s bible commentary explains it as the Deeds of God. By now you have gotten the understanding of what High Praises means. It is the act of shouting or speaking loudly, boastfully about the wonders of your God, His acts of deliverance, His tenderness and loving kindness towards those who love Him, the awesome splendor and majesty of His presence and so on.
Each time you offer high praises to the Lord, you see Him move in a mighty way in the enemy’s camp. This is what the children of Israel always did; they would approach each battle boastfully speaking about whom God is, what God did to their enemies in the past, what God would do to the enemies who stood before them, and so on. This would always strike fear in the hearts of those who came against them and the second thing it did for them was to bring down the presence of God into their situation. When these two things happened, the Israelites were always sure to win the battle that day. During the time of Nehemiah, the children of Israel still went into battle singing about the high praises of God. That was how they got victory over enemies and completed the wall of Jerusalem.
Beloved this is our month of High Praise. This is our season of victories, and our year of completion and perfection. For you to be able to engage these prophetic declarations and see them manifest in your life, you must not fail to give God high praises. The enemy needs to hear about the wonders of God that makes you confident. David boasted in His God during the encounter with Goliath. The mighty men of old boasted that their strength came from the strength of the Lord and they annihilated races, took lands and possessed livestock and untold riches. God is on your side, open your mouth in high praise and activate His power.
In doing this, don’t forget that giving your Firstfruit is a sign to God that you are ready for His blessings in your life this year.
During Pastor Larry’s phone-in radio prayer program last September, I called and complained of how things were hard for me. He prayed for me and declared financial breakthrough over my life. From that day, things turned around. Those owing me started paying me back and doors of favour opened for me. Praise God!
