“And he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Beloved, the grace of God is sufficient for you in all things. This scripture is erroneously misinterpreted most times in such a way that it belittles the mercy and the desire of God for our lives. When Paul said he prayed 3 times (I wonder why only 3) and God told him that concerning the thorn in his flesh; that His grace was sufficient, that didn’t mean Paul had to live with the thorn forever. ‘My grace is sufficient’ doesn’t mean ‘my grace is not enough to heal you’. Rather God was actually saying, “My grace (my favour, my mercy) is available for you concerning that thorn, for my strength (my ability, my mercy) is made perfect (or is at its peak) when you are too weak to help yourself. This is why God is El-shaddai; the God who is sufficient in all things, the God who is able to meet our every need, or the multiple breasted one. God’s mercy is available to handle every situation that may arise in your life. Believing otherwise is placing a limitation on your faith and in the power of God at work in your life.

It is possible that Paul may have prayed the 4th and 5th time and received a greater revelation that removed that thorn from his life, or he might have died in that his revelation. I do not know. The book of Corinthians doesn’t tell us anymore but when we get to heaven, we can ask Paul if God’s mercy and sufficiency ever gave him relief. Some people have refused to see Paul’s teachings from a deeper perspective and revelation. So they have misinterpreted him, accepting negative situations in their lives as ‘thorns in the flesh’ and are living below God’s plans for their lives. God is sufficient (enough, able, willing), so just ask in prayer about your weaknesses and He will meet it with grace.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

My shop was demolished last year. Since then I have been jobless, living from hand to mouth. I was in a service one day and daddy prayed for me. From that day, my life turned around. I got a new shop and stocked it with goods. To God alone be all the glory.
