Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10
God loves humble people. If there is something He hates, it is pride. In fact He so hates proud people that He resists them. This means He personally stands in the way of their progress. Imagine what happens when God Himself is standing against you. Who will you call to help you? That is what happens to the proud. “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” (I Peter 5:5). When God finds a man who is humble, He will lift him up to any height in life. Are you a humble person? All the people that God lifted in the Bible were humble people.
Jesus is our example of humility. He left His place in glory and came among men. The King of kings was born in a manger. Talking about Jesus in Philippians 2:6-8, Apostle Paul said, “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” The result of His humility was His lifting. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Vs 9-11). If Jesus had to be humble before He was lifted, the rules will not be changed because of you. Humility is a must.
My son abroad faced hardship because he could not get a job. I came to church one day and sowed a seed on his behalf. Few days later, my son called me and told me that God had favoured him and given him a job. Few months later, he sent me N200, 000. I return all the glory to God.
