“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” Psalms 42:11
Sometime, you find yourself in situations where praise is the last thing on your mind. You get so overwhelmed with the situation that your desire to praise is shut down. The psalmist found himself in that situation. He felt so bad that he had to address his soul and cheer himself up. It gets worse when you have been faithful in church attendance, sowing seeds, giving offerings, helping others. You find it difficult believing that such a situation can come upon you, inspite of all you have done. It could be loss of a loved one, loss of a job, sickness, accident, and so on. One thing you need to know is that God is not the source of evil. Only good things come from God. When evil happens, it is the enemy that struck. Don’t forget that the enemy goes about looking for whom to devour; he looks for people who have broken their hedged so he can strike. For evil to happen to you, the hedge must have been broken in one way or the other. On the other hand, when you are being persecuted for your belief, it is a different situation. Just like the early Christians were flogged and jailed for preaching Christ, it is possible that you will be persecuted in your working place because you refuse to soil your hands and live a double standard life. No matter the case, praise is the solution.
Job was in such a state of despair that his wife turned her back on him. “Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” (Job 2:9-10). After suffering loss of wealth, children and health, he still praised God. Beloved, whatever you are going through is an opportunity to show God where you depend on. Don’t let the enemy see you cry and curse. No. Shock him with your praise!
Blessed and healed
Since I started coming to Praise Tabernacle, God has been so faithful to me. I suffered financial difficulty but God has turned this situation around. I have been so financially blessed that I now drive my own car to church. Even the fibroid pains I suffered from has gone. Praise God!
