“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees.” 1 Kings 18:42
Yesterday we took time to learn about the hand of the Lord and what it can do in the life of anybody it comes upon. It is important to note that the hand of the Lord does not just come upon anybody. There are things you do that bring the hand of the Lord upon you. There is a lifestyle you live that attracts the hand of the Lord. One way to get the hand of the Lord on your life and everything you do is by constantly separating yourself to spend time with God. Elijah did it in our opening scripture. It was when he separated himself and prayed the ‘face-between-his-knee’ prayer that the rain came, and the hand of the Lord came upon him. He had a lifestyle of always being in the presence of God, hearing from God and praying. Even Apostle James confirmed it in James 5:17-18,“Elias (Elijah) was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” All these happened because Elijah was a man of the presence. If you only spend time in the presence of God when you come to church on Sunday, forget about the hand of the Lord. If you can spend hours every day watching TV and just spend few minutes to rush your prayer, forget about the hand of the Lord.
In our opening scripture, Ahab went to eat and drink but Elijah went up to the top of carmel, a mount of God’s presence; a mount of prayer. When others are eating and drinking and you separate yourself to seek the face of God, you attract the hand of the Lord. When others are dipping and touching sin but you choose to remain consecrated, you attract the hand of the Lord. We are in our prayer season now. If you want to see the hand of the Lord upon your life the rest of this year, take it serious. Even after the general church prayers, make it a lifestyle to keep food and drink aside from time to time and seek the presence of God.
Saved from death
I want to thank God for the life of my dad. He was booked for surgery but the doctors said he is too old and they are not sure he would survive it. We were scared because of different things we have heard about people of his age not surviving such surgeries. I took the blood of Jesus to the hospital, prayed for my dad and sprinkled the blood on him. To the glory of God, the surgery was successful. Doctors said it would take some days before he can talk but as soon as he came out and I went to see him, he called my name. I want to return all the glory to God.
