And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11:26
A story is told in John chapter 3 of an encounter a Pharisee had with Jesus. “Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: the same came unto him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:1-3). Jesus was different from every other person which made the Pharisee wonder what made Him “thick”. The same was noticed about the early believers. The account in our opening scripture was the first time the disciples of Jesus were called ‘Christians’, the reason being that they were Christ-like. When people saw them, they could immediately identify them as the followers of Christ; there was no difference between them and Jesus Christ both in the quality of life, character and manifestation of the supernatural.
People saw Jesus and knew that there was something different about Him. They saw the disciples and knew that there was something different about them. Beloved, are people seeing anything different about you? Are you a believer in secret and in open? What kind of life are you living? Do the people around you know that you are a believer? There is no way you will be living the life and it will not be noticed. Matthew 5:14-15 says, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” Beloved, represent Jesus wherever you are by living the life of a true Christ-like believer.
