“And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’ daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.” 2 Samuel 6:16
The Ark of the Lord had been in the house of Obededom for months and it was time to bring it back to the temple where it belonged. While the procession was going on, David praised and danced so much that his Kingly robe fell off from him body and only his inner wear was seen on his body, yet he did not mind. As long as he was praising God with his whole being, he was satisfied. However something happened. When His wife saw him dancing without self-consciousness, she despised him in her heart. She didn’t stop at that. She confronted Him at the first opportunity she got. “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. (2 Samuel 6:20-22). David told her the reason why he praised God that way; no one did for him what God had done for him. Michal paid for despising David as a result of his praise. “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.” (Vs 23)
When you see others dancing in church, don’t criticize them. When you see people lifting their hands with tears in their eyes, don’t despise them. When you see people lying or rolling on the floor in worship, don’t talk down on them. They alone know why they are praising God. Since you can’t do for them what God has done for them, don’t say anything about their praise. Never mock a praiser. It can bring curse upon you. Instead of despising them, join in.
2 Samuel 6:1-23
Deliverance from evil attacks
I want to thank God for delivering me from series of attack. I started having this attack from when I was 5 years till now that I am a woman. The recent one was that for about 6 months, maggots come out of my body and I even vomit maggots. During a service, daddy called me up and told me about the attack. He prayed for me and delivered me. That was the end of the attack. I don’t see any maggot anymore. Other attacks have ceased too. Praise God!
