Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well. II Kings 4:26
Some people go about looking for who to pity them and sympathize with them. They like people telling them ‘sorry’ every time. They are like the man at the pool of Bethesda. Jesus asked him if he wanted to be well, instead of saying ‘yes’, he started complaining. “The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” (John 5:7). He wanted Jesus to sympathize with him and tell him “Eiyaa, so you have been here for so long without anyone to help you, sorry ooo.” Jesus didn’t have time for a pity party. He healed the man and went His way. That is to show that the man had been looking at the wrong people for help. He was expecting pity from men but only God had the solution to his problem. He complained so much that when His solution came, he did not know. He was still expecting pity. I am glad God is a merciful God.
Beloved, know that some of the people you are expecting pity from are scorners who will go behind and use your situation as gossip topic. Some of the people you cry and complain to might even be the ones behind what you are going through, and the more they see you hurt, the happier they are. Know that no man has the solution to your problem. Whenever a man helps you, it is God that touched the person’s heart. So instead of going about from person to person telling them what you are going through and expecting them to pity you, why not talk to God about your problem and expect Him to come through. Be like the shunemite woman who even when she lost her son refused people pitying her. When people asked her what the problem was, she always said “it is well”. It was when she met her prophet who had the solution to her problem that she opened up. Don’t let your words and your countenance attract pity. Always be cheerful and report your matter to God first before people you are sure can help you.
2 Kings 4:1-37
I wrote a book but selling it was a challenge. I brought a copy and presented to daddy for prayers. I met a director of a school who said I can sell the book and told me who to meet. The person turned out to be a stumbling block but I continued praying. After several days, I decided to go and carry the books I supplied to the school as they were not buying. I sprinkled the oil of gladness on the copies I had before going. In the school, I met some students who saw the book and went through it. They said they like it and started buying. Like play, the book finished that day in the school. I thank God for the favour. Praise God.
