Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9
One of the things that made Jesus lifted above all was His love for righteousness. There is the imputed righteousness that comes when you give your life to Jesus and accept His Lordship according to 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” This is the work of grace, based on the finished work of Jesus on the cross. This righteousness is imputed in your human spirit when you get saved. But there is another level. Note that when you get saved, it is your spirit that got saved. Your soul and your body remain unregenerate. Grace brings you into right standing with God but you consciously work out your salvation with fear and trembling to also align your soul and your body to the righteous state of your spirit. This is where your work is required.
Unfortunately, many people are sleeping in this area. They think they can do anything they want and go away with it. You have a responsibility to hate iniquity and love righteousness. God will not do that for you. There are places you must not be seen in; there are things you must not be found doing; there are clothes you should not be seen wearing; there are people you should not be seen hanging out with. “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4). Don’t think the blood of Jesus is going behind you cleaning you up as you sin willfully. Heaven has a standard. Grace is for those who fall into sin and not those who dwell in sin. Come out from there! You are different! Don’t look like the world because you are not of the world, even though you are in the world.
Beloved, it doesn’t matter how many times you rise and fall. Keep studying the word, keep praying with fasting, keep staying away from people and things that make you fall into sin and in a short time, you will grow stronger than the besetting sin. Also, tell people about your salvation experience. That testimony will add strength to you also. In these days of sin and wickedness, it is very important that you wake up to righteousness; wake up to good character; wake up to holiness; wake up to sanctification. Let God see your hunger for righteousness and He will help you.
2 Corinthians 6, Hebrews 10
I want to thank God for what He did for my friend who I invited to church. During the service, she was led to sow the last N75 she had as a seed in expectation of financial blessings. God did it for her. Few days later, her uncle who had forgotten her for sometime sent her N75, 000. It came as a surprise to her. Since that day, she doesn’t joke with seed-sowing. Praise God.
