“And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:” Ezekiel 11:19
Every New Year, people make New Year resolutions but they end up breaking it in few days of weeks. This is because they are going about “change” the wrong way. For those who are saved by grace, you can’t change yourself from outside. You can’t work out your salvation with the arm of flesh. It is the outworking of the Helper-Holy Spirit from within that manifests on the outwards. Stop trying to change yourself from the outside. Reach inwards and let the new creation life in you manifest. Remember what we learnt days ago; you are saved by grace and not of works. When you try to work out righteousness without first getting saved, you will frustrate yourself. The truth is that the force of sin is stronger than human ability. No matter how hard you try to stop a bad habit by yourself, you will always fail because the sinful nature is still very much alive in you. It is when you get saved that you will begin to see gradual but steady transformations in your life. With time, the things you struggled with become a thing of the past.
Once you are saved, give the new man in you room for expression. The new man in you finds expression in your outward man and appearance as long as you subject your mind to the Word of God; “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2), and right associations; “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (I Corinthians 15:33). Only then will your light shine and men will see your ‘good deeds’ and confirm your change. For the new creation, living above sin is not a struggle because grace makes it possible.
<Healing by the blood>
After I left the office one day, my colleague called me to come back that he was dying. When I got back to the office, I met him in a terrible shape. He was shouting and holding his head. I served him the communion blood and he felt relief. He was then taken to the hospital where scan showed that he had a rupture in his brain that was bleeding and that he needed to be operated on. I prayed, believing God for intervention. Before the surgery, the doctor checked him again and said the ruptured artery had stopped bleeding and has started to heal. I thank God for His healing hands.
