But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Ephesians 2:4-5
Salvation is not a result of right moral living. Some people think if they stop lying or cheating or doing one wrong or the other, it makes them acceptable to God. This is a wrong mentality. “But we are all as an unclean thing , and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isaiah 64:6). Your highest act of self righteousness will never make you please God or give you a place in the kingdom. Grace is the passport and VISA that takes you there. When man fell at creation, the sin nature became encoded in the DNA. So whenever a child is born, he or she carries that same sin nature. This means that you don’t need to do anything right or wrong to be a sinner. Everybody born into this world has that sinful nature. That was why Jesus came.
In the Old Testament, they used the blood of bulls and rams to save people from the consequences of their sins, but it did not change them. They went on sinning and offering sacrifices to atone for the sins committed. The blood that was shed then covered the sins. But when Jesus came, he dealt directly with the sin nature by offering His spotless blood as eternal sacrifice. That made it possible for a new nature to emerge. All you need to do is accept the sacrifice of Jesus and the exchange He wrought on the cross and you will become a new person. “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:15-17). Now when God looks at you that is saved, He sees Jesus who died in your place.
Beloved, you can only be saved by grace. Don’t take for granted what you have received. In case you make mistakes, never hesitate to confess with a broken heart and move on in fellowship with the Father.
Ephesians 2:1-22, 2 Corinthians 5:1-21
My husband in London lost his VISA and couldn’t come back home. He tried all he could but he didn’t get it back. It was a serious concern to us as his family. During a Morning Prayer session on radio in September, I called in and complained and daddy Larry prayed for my husband. Later that afternoon, my husband called me and told me that the court sent him a mail that his VISA processing has been started. Praise God!
